Supply and demand for online events are increasing

The global ticketing provider Eventbrite has recorded a growth of 220 % in online event offerings (February compared to March 2020).

This trend is evidenced by a further increase: The number of search requests for online events on Eventbrite has multiplied tenfold. The demand for online events among Eventbrite users has therefore risen even faster than the supply.
Event organizers are currently under immense pressure. Virtual events offer an important alternative source of income or informations. Eventbrite works with video streaming platforms such as Zoom and Vimeo to host events online.
Online events have picked up remarkably, with many different offerings: One can attend everything from an empowerment circle, community meetups for personal development, and afterwork networking.
Cyril Charton, Director of Sales and Business Development at Eventbrite Germany: “The remarkable increase in online events on our platform and the enormous demand for them shows that the event industry is adapting its way of thinking. As soon as the live event industry recovers from this crisis, visitors who are not able to attend an event in person will possibly be more open for virtual participation. For event organizers this could be an opportunity to expand their live audience to a virtual one”.
The range of online events currently still varies strongly between free and paid options. By still having their event online, organizers can continue to earn money and take advantage of additional benefits.
